I am interested in a bass currently for sale at globalvintage.com in Sydney, Australia. Anyone familiar with this seller? Are they legit?

Jere, I've not purchased from this outfit directly, however I have visited the shop and had a long discussion with the owner about Rickenbackers. He seemed all above board and has been in business for a while.

Used Rickenbacker instruments are a rarity in Aussie retail shops and are usually snapped up quickly, unless they are priced too highly. I know of a 360V64 with an asking price of AUD$4500 which is equivalent to US$4150...way too high!

From what I've seen Global Vintage's prices are at the higher end of Aussie used retail.

Hi Jere and Darren!!!

Also the rapidly appreciating Aussie dollar against the USD (and most other currencies for that matter), will only make Australian purchases that much more expensive.
Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others.

Now the shoe is on the other foot, isn't it??
When i bought my 2005 360 into Australia from the U.S, the Aussie dollar was about US62 cents, its now near 88!! I'd have saved, including shipping nearly $300!! Damn!!!

Ouch!! I know the feeling, Greg.

Unfortunately you'll be copping it in the neck if you buy one here, Jere. It's a high priced market for Ricks anyway, but the exchange rate and freight are very unfriendly.

Your 'common or garden' variety used 330s and 360s are going for anything between $2000 and $2800 (AUD) on ebay here..... $1750 to $2500 USD.

On the other side of the coin, SoCal '07 isn't going to cost Darren and I a bucket as it usually would! Image
