Those Charlie Christian Neck pickups are known to be like.. .the Godliest of all pickups for the neck position. Maybe Lennon liked noodling around with it at home. I don't recall seeing John use a neck pickup on anything really.

Those faded LP juniors with P90's are terrific. Once you adjust the height of the P90's in respect to the strings and are careful with the gain, they sound mighty good. And they are quite light weight.

They are a good deal in my opinion, you just have to be prepared to shine them up a little (or not) because they have hardly any finish at all ... a little "hair" here and there ... and don't forget the set up. The neck is great though.

I have a doublecut version and it sounds good on any pickup position ... those P90's ...

You're right, Nick, I think the only time he used the neck pup was on his 325's and of course the J160e. As much as I like Rics, I must admit there is something really cool about a P90 through a cranked amp.

Why choose one or the other? Seymour Duncan sells a P-90 in a Rick Hi-gain look and shape! YOu might be the first to give it a try!

When did John use the neck on the 325?

Hold Me Tight, I Want to Hold Your Hand, and on lots of the time live. Watch the Shea concert and you see/hear it on a couple of tunes.

All my loving sounds like the bridge, or all 3 to me.

I Wanna Hold Your Hand sounds like the bridge pickup with tthe tone rolled WAY WAY back.

I'll have to listen to HOld me tight again...

That would work and I know that it's just a little old pickup, but I'm a believer in sticking to the sound, and look.

If you want a P90 sound and look, get a Gibson LP special, but if you want the Rickenbacker sound and look , get a Rickenbacker.

What the hey, you end up with two good guitars anyway.

But that's just me.

It's got a great "this way you have 2!" style of wisdom!

I am a Ric man at heart, but the Casino is a great guitar. when pluged into the AC30 and turned up, its lennon heaven.

The Casino/Vox thing is a good sound, no doubt, but I think I prefer my Casino (when it's working, see my post over "the others) through a good Fender amp. I've got a Deluxe reverb I'm currently loving--it's a good ric amp too.
