The difference half an inch makes

Post by lucky »

I have just bought a 4001s PMC styled scratchplate from Rickysounds/Ricsrus for my '92 4003 to 4001V63 style bass project. And a big thank you to the owner Robbie because it looks amazing and his help and understanding was brilliant,a good guy to deal with.
Anyhow the scratchplate is on now and the bass pickup is in the half inch posistion, and what a difference.I would'nt have thought that moving a pickup half an inch would make the bass sound so good, there seems to be more growl in the bass pickup now.The next part is a toaster pickup & H/S covers to complete the look.

I was afraid to read this thread--even more afraid of pictures.
Here is where I hide my music:

My bass is a standard 4003,that i am doing up to make it look more like a 4001v63 style bass.Forum member & friend Pete Greenwood started things off,on my project by giving me a 4001V63 treble pickup surround.I got my girlfriend a digital camera,so i'll take some pics soon and find out how to post them.As for the H/S covers i may have to look into getting a set made or just leave the pickup cover on.And your right Mark the title of the thread could be misread.

Mark, that is funny...

Shawn, I sent you an email before I left for England with some photos & drawings of the HS covers. We were emailing and then I never heard back. Did you receive them?

I was just in Manchester and Pete told me he spoke to you recently, maybe at the Bolton gig that I unfortunately had to miss. Maybe next autumn we'll be back in England and can all meet up. I'd like to see your bass when it's finished.

Hi Jim,no i did'nt get any e mail's can you try again.Pete said that he met up with you & i saw the pics on the forum. How is your project coming along anyway. My bass does look better with the new scratchplate, and V63 pickup surround. And it does sound better with the half inch spacing.
