Not-wavy grover bass tuners?

I stumbled across a set of grover, closed back bass tuners, that look identical to wavy grovers, but the keys are flat, not wavy.
I wonder about this. Anyone know?

Mike,

These are the first generation Grovers used on the 69-71 basses.

Do you want to sell them? I'd be very interested....

I seem to remember a picture of a pile of grovers that was about a foot deep that someone posted about a year ago, wasn't that guys initials D.P.? OK I was exaggerating....the pile was only six inches deep....

My June '72 MG (now Mink) came with flat Grovers. It's not easy to define the time period for some hardware, as there were probably bins of the stuff, and workers just grabbed stuff until they got a matched set to install. My guess.

By Sept 1972 they were putting wavies on, because one of my 72s has them. A March 72 here has flats. So the changeover happened sometime between June and Sept 1972...

I am going to see DP this coming weekend and I will take my electronic "flat-grover pocket detector device" with me, and count how many dozen sets of NOS flats that Dave has squirreled away.... I bet it is almost as many as Andy W has hidden away.....
