Using EMS for Intl. shipping: Opinions Please....

I'm getting ready to send an instrument to Germany, and was wondering what experiences any of you may have had using EMS for overseas shipping....It seems the Japanese use it a good bit from there to the USA and recommend it. The rates don't seem too bad for EMS to Europe, so if you all have any opinions about the service I'd love to hear about them.. Thanks muchly.

I bought a guitar from a Japanese indy dealer last year that shipped via EMS. I have to say that it was the easiest, most non-stressed delivery experience that I've ever had! I had the guitar delivered to my doorstep in less than 48 hours from Tokyo and for the cost of less than $50. Very impressive and most satisfying.

I should also state that I was employed in the air freight industry from 1989 to 1996 and EMS is better than any carrier service that I've ever experienced.

I've only received one shipment via EMS and that was great. No problems tracking etc and the package arrived in tip top condition. It was shipped from Japan to the UK. Hope that helps John.

Three basses from Japan, not one even minor problem, it's so fast it's amazing, and not too expensive, IMO.

Thanks for all the comments everyone, they seem to echo what I have heard up to this point. It looks as though I'll be using EMS after all.
