Danelectro Pro Reissue

I just picked up my new Danelectro Pro Reissue in "Keen Green" yesterday. This is an ultra-cool guitar at an ultra-cool price. I paid $250.00 for it, without a case. After reading a review a few months back in VG magazine, I just had to have one. I will also admit to having been first intrigued by the Dano Pro when it appeared in the Let's Active video for Water's Part. I never knew back then what the guitar was. But if Mitch Easter had one, it had to be cool!

Anyway, for the price, I figured it would look cool on my wall if it turned out to be a lousy guitar. Well, it's only been a day, but I really like it. It's not fancy, but it was set up nicely right out of the box. It feels great, plays great, and actually sounds way cooler through my AC-1 than through my regular amps (I play through a Vox Cambridge 15 and a Crate V1215 at the same time). I'm really into a more raw sound these days, and the Dano has it's own sound that is really raunchy. I also really like the neck, which is my preferred style (two piece, no binding). The neck is very smooth, the frets done well, and an aluminum nut to match the other brushed hardware.

Anyway, I thought I'd share, since I know there are some Dano fans here. It's a limited edition, and I really think that they'll be hard to come by soon, given the limited distribution (not many dealers) and the new company seems to be doing things a bit differently. Better quality, for one thing!

I saw a bunch of those at Wade's in Milwaukee. They look interesting.

I like "amoeba guitar" better. Picked one up in Peach. Very nice for the price. Plays nicely, sounds great through my little Vox AD30 VT, but smells funny.

I've got one of the late 90's Dano reissues that isn't, the Dano DC3. It has a plywood and masonite body and maple neck rather than the vintage poplar/masonite body and poplar neck, and the stock pickups were ****, but after putting in some custom shop Seymour Duncan lipstick pickups using vintage correct alnico 6 magnets, it sounds really good, and it always played well anyway. Those necks are some of the best around!
