Wish I were... The Beatles are, of course, my all time favourite, but Cheap Trick was pretty important to me as a kid (and still are). Is anyone a better singer than Zander? I even had a Hamer B12S for a few years to satisfy my Tom Petersson fixation. Enjoy the show!

"I Want You To Want Me" is a great song and very approachable by your average semi-competent amateur band.

But not nearly as approachable as Spinal Tap's "All The Way Home"...

I saw them in Topeka a couple of years ago with Alice Cooper, and Tom was using a 12-string bass, but it wasn't a Hamer. The brand started with a W, I think, but I can't remember what it was. When they toured with The Anniversary a few years ago, he was using a 12-string Hamer AND an 8-string. So I don't know. Maybe he just really likes the new ones. I think he has a specific signature model with them that has a Mod circle (like The Who!) painted on the front. But I can't remember where I heard that.
Thanks!

Just after I was done typing that, I started talking to one of my mates about it, and he knew the signature bass. It's made by Waterstone, and comes in Black, Transparent Green, and Transparent Red, in addition to the Mod Circle. They have an almost Ricky feeling headstock look, but in reverse, so like a lefty neck being played righty. ( with all in-line tuners though, obviously.)

It is a 12-string on that performance. The YouTube video is very poor quality, but my VHS tape from back then still looks clear. The canned laughter and applause are as annoying now as they were then.

A great CT performance to see would be their live set from Don Kirshner's Rock Concert back in '78. I still have my reel-to-reel dub of the 8-track I recorded, and have been hoping (in vain) to see a video of that performance again. It was great.

I recently got a Raspberries DVD from their Don Kirshner's Rock Concert show from Ben Brown here on the boards (Thanks Ben!) and it was fantastic, so I wouldn't be surprised if Cheap Trick's is available. It's something I'd really love to see (I'm a huge fan of Power Pop.) so I'll keep an eye out. If I see it around, I'll let you know.
Thanks!

Thanks, Dusty. That would be great. I've never heard of that being available anywhere, so finding it would be a treat. It was that performance that got me into CT. It could have been in '77 as Tom was still using his 10-string Hamer.

The Ramones also appeared on Don Kirshner's at around the same time and that performance is available. Maybe there's hope for the Cheap Trick one too.

I checked my little order sheet of bootlegs that I can get from a shop I do business with, and they only had 5 CT DVDs, none of which was the Don Kirshner's show. However, they don't sell the Raspberries Ben sent me or the Ramones show that you mentioned, so maybe they just don't have a source for them. I'll keep an eye out elsewhere though. That was just my first source to look though, so I'll keep you posted.
Thanks!
