4001/6 project done

Dale I did use your rods and they work great. This thing needs some solid rods with the E to E tuned bass strings. I sounds great running the toaster through my ampeg B15N and the high gain (with the treble cap kicked in) through a marshall. It takes up a bunch of room and would be killer in a three piece band. Your stuff made the project come together, so thanks for all the help.

"rebound it with checkered binding (...) and painted it aged black."
That's the best part! I love aged black (greened w/yellowed clearcoat) and yellowed checkerboard binding, no matter how many strings it has!
Way cool bass. I used to own two 6-string basses, a Fender VI and a 1960 Danelectro (EDIT: pic in my next post), both 30" scale, but never had a full-scale old-style 6er.

I'm a old school 4 string player so my mind works e-G or on a guitar e-e, so I've never been able to figure out what to do with a low b because they just don't sound right to me, and I won't even try to go into a high c LOL. Ya can't play this thing with your fingers are do any kind of funk on it because the strings are just tooooo close together.
