I think the most frequent use of the adjective 'creative' I've heard in the past few years has been in the phrase 'creative accounting'.

We used to call that 'lying'...

accounting can be an art as much as a science... especially when it comes to dealing with our insanely bloated and complicated tax system. Some companies keep two sets of books - one for their own use and one for the taxman - and this is perfectly legit. But you're right, the 'creative accounting' think is usually a euphimism for 'cheating stealing *******'.

oh... did I mention the benefits of the Flat Tax?

Here's an inconvenient truth for ya Dane... the top 5% of wage earners pay 53.25% of all income taxes. The top 50% pay 96.03% and the top 1% is paying more than ten times the federal income taxes than the bottom 50%. So when a reduction in the rate of taxes comes along of course the wealthier people will have a greater reduction in the amount of $$$ that is confiscated from them by the government (this is what you might ignorantly call "tax cuts for the rich"). Chew on these numbers for a while.

Are there the super-rich trust fund babies running around with more time and money than they know what to do with? Sure. Always have been and always will be. My advice is dont lose any sleep over it. No poor guy ever signed my paycheck.

Fact: Currently, cuts in the rate of taxation result in MORE money coming into the government.
Why: Because we're currently on the right hand side of the Laffer Curve (which is irrefutable and wasn't invented by Laffer but dates back to the 14th century).

Model 381

This model was originally equipped with a single pickguard and two control knobs. Both dot or triangle inlays on the fingerboard. The model 381 was abandoned by the factory in the early sixties. Reintroduced with different features in the late sixties.It now had a double pickguard two additional knobs and a fifth mixer control. This guitar was the first Rickenbacker to have the new Hi-Gain pickups. These first appeared on a model 381 made in February 1969 and later became standard on production models. At first, the factory called the new Hi-Gain units the "381 type coils". The model 381 was dropped from production in 1974. Reintroduced a second time in 1987 as a Vintage Reissue model 381V69.

As a writer, author and editor with a BA in English, misspellings drive me crazy too. The worst ones are: "your" instead "you're" and "prolly" instead of "probably." Whenever I correct someone on the the drum forum, somebody always accuses me of being the "spelling police."

Not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but it certainly would seem like a manufacturer could nail Tokai--it's not like they're working out of a garage somewhere with a postal box for an office--it's a fairly substantial operation.

I don't mean this in any way to be construed as an endorsement of the copies, but I did find it interesting when I was shopping for a Les Paul-style guitar a while back that the Tokai's came very highly recommended from the LP crowd.

You will love this little story!

When my daughter was in 5th Grade, I mentioned to the English teacher that her spelling was horrible and I inquired what could be done to help her improve...

READY....the TEACHER replied with "That is what they make spell checker for", and, "there is no need to stress out the kids with un-necessary, antiquated skills". I replied; do job applications have a spell checker on them?

I wanted to kill him!

I realize that it was an isolated incident, most of her teachers were fantastic. Many of my friends are teachers, but what this guy was smoking, I'll never know!

Thank you Tony for not associating one teacher's idea with the rest of us. I realize that my spelling and grammar leaves much to be desired; but I generally make an honest effort. Then again there is the age difference, most teachers who are entering the profession could be my children and I was educated in a different era. I did not receive my formal education until late in life. I was not dependent on spell check; although I do use the online dictionary and thesaurus.
I am sorry for the thread drift as well.

Tony, that's an appalling story...the same ****'s been going on for years down the hall in math class. They've got calculators, why make them learn their multiplication tables? We ain't gonna keep up with China, India and Korea this way, folks.

Uh, just one point of contention, though...let's not equate idiocy with smoking...after all, Carl Sagan smoked plenty of it, and he could spell AND multiply...
