Yes. I've seen him a couple of times, most recently a few weeks ago when he performed at the Canadian Guitar Festival. Some members might recall a posting I wrote on this forum a year or so ago asking members to keep an eye open for some guitars and other gear stolen from Don Ross. I have a friend who is a diehard devotee of fingerstyle guitar music. He introduced me to Don Ross and many other players of the same ilk. Candyrat records, BTW, is a driving label for many fingerstyle guitarists and, if you're interested in this type of music, a great resource to check out (you might want to look up another player named Andy McKee). To be honest, fingerstyle doesn't really grab me on an emotional level but man, on a technical level, these players do things on a guitar that often leave you scratching your head. And Don Ross is one of the best in the genre.

I have not seen anything like it. I was just snooping around as I am picking up the acoustic again and just typed acoustic guitar lessons to see what was out there ( a lot of junk) and stumbled on to these vids.

Don usually plays locally about once a year. He along with many other finger picking style guitarists play at a local church that is just a wonderful setting for this venue. They are brought here by Michigan Fingerstyle Guitar Society. If you scroll down the page you can see he is scheduled to play in the Detroit area in December.

Don Ross is from around my neck of the woods. I've heard the name before, but have never actually seen him perform before. Those vidclips were great!

Don is Great...Check out the late great Shawn Lane. Started playing at 6yrs. old. Monster player with dexterity and skill like no other. He played with "Jim Dandy" AKA Black Oak Arkansas as a young teenager.

In 1978 I built a Custom Guitar for OL' Jim Dandy. Quite the Southern Gentleman. Wonder if he still has it? ..Another one of my favorites from the same era: GFRR Mark Farner and the boys were one of the best party/touring bands ever! "Come On Dudes" Let's Get It On!
