"S" Deluxe Tuning Machines

Post by woody »

A local Music Store has a 360/12V64 for sale. It played well, looked mostly original, but had tuners that may have been replaced. I've seen dbl-line Kluson Deluxe and Ric Deluxe, but these said "S" Deluxe. Plus they looked like chrome, not nickel. Could these have been changed, or are they original?

They are Schallers, and they are original. My 370/12RM FG has them, IIRC.

Thanks, guys. And are these chrome, not nickel? And are they considered more desirable than the RIC Deluxe tuners, which I think ARE nickel? Sorry for all of the questions...

I don't know, but I'd hazard a guess that they are chrome. I don't think that they are any more or less desirable than the RIC deluxe, but, again, I don't really know the answer.

What year is the guitar? My '92 360/12V64 has the Ric Deluxe tuners, and I think they're definitely nickle.

Or, if they're chrome, they sure look like aged like nickle does - not the cases, just the knobs.

The guitar is a 1988 360/12V64. Thanks again for the responses.
