I am looking at bass heads also. I tried a SWR working pro 400, and the Fender Bassman head. I am running them thru a single Eminence 12 with a horn. I liked the tone of the Fender more- very warm. I have been following the threads on the Markbass heads- alot of buzz. Unfortunately there are no dealers here in Maine- closest is GC in Boston. I see Markbass has an all tube amp coming out

has anyone tried one yet?

Chris,
To my knowledge, these were supposed to be out this summer 2007.
A good dealer in Canada is www.lauzonmusic.com located in Ottawa. They carry the MarkBass line and are really easy to deal with ! Shipping such amp will be really inexpensice as they are so light !!!

I must say I've not played around with any MB equip, but the idea of a 2-channel amp is something I've been considering for a long time for the RoS. When I was shopping last year for new equipment, I took a pass on an older model SWR stereo amp, and the Eden World Traveller at $2k was too rich for my blood. So, I've got a new Yorkie 400 and an old GK 400RB to power the two channels, but this sounds much better.
So...what's a typical US selling price for the LMK? Are they only available thru GC?
And does anyone know of other options for a single amp, RickOSound solution?

I just went to Long Island this weekend to see my sister. Went to a GC there and tried the Markbass...the 500W combo with a single 15" speaker. Killer sound. I think I might either get a combo with the 2x10 and an external 15" speaker, or the LMKII head and all external speakers. I would have to try and trade in my Ampeg B200R.
I couldn't believe how light the Markbass amps were!
