Saw them last month at an outdoors Earth Day celebration thing by the river. They sounded fantastic, as always. We were right up front & center. Severo (the Thrilla from Manila) was great! Well, so was everyone else. ;-)

Need to work on the pics though - for some reason, I couldn't upload them to my Webshots site. Probably a naming issue or something. Got pictures of the Knack from last year (same place) to work on too.

No Ricks were used at either concert but the pics are cool nonetheless. I'll let you all know if/when I'm successful.

PS - Pat is decidedly NOT skinny these days! But who is? Not me, for sure. ;-)

if you have the 'on demand' feature of digital cable, theres 2 new smithereens items on there. one is a 30min documentary of the 'meet the smithereens' album and one is a sample of a live show from earlier this year. i found both interesting & painful at the same time. the doc. was nice, but really didnt show too much of them actually making the album, & the live show's audio was p*ss poor. sounded just like a stereo send from the board, when some nice audience mics would've captured the sound much, much better. the shocking part was the look of pat. id wager he's pushing 275 lbs and looked very fatigued. someone needs to introduce him to a new woman..her name is jenny craig.

Back in the 80's I used to work with this girl who was featured in that song "Behind the Wall of Sleep."

Pat and The Eggmen were doing the same radio show, he was promoting his solo album, and we were all in the "green room" hanging out when I pulled out my '80 4003LHFG, he loved it. Nice guy, I knew he was gonna be on so I brought my copy of his CD and got him to sign it.

Finally did get some the Smithereens pics posted (website in my profile). Also some of The Knack at the same place, same Earth Day thing, the year before. No Ricks, but they were great shows. Talked to all those guys for quite a while after the shows too - to a man, they're all real nice guys.

I've read someplace that Pat takes some kind of medication(s) that have made him gain that weight, but I don't know the details on that. He's still real active on stage though.
