Have I sinned?

Post by alan »

OK, so I'm a bassist. Love my 4001 and 4003, hoping to add a 4004 soon, but I also like to noodle around on guitar. So, my main guitar is also a Ric, a 620. Last year, I impulsively bought a 620/12 mg, a real beauty, but I was looking for a 4004, and just didn't want to go home empty handed. So, the 620/12 mostly sits in it's case, comes out to play every once in a while, and poorly played, cause, you know, that's a really tight string spacing. OK, now to the sin. A few weeks ago, I traded off my 620/12, along with an SVT410HE cab, for a Gibson TBird Studio 5 string. It's a beast of a bass, and my first ever 5 stringer. I'm quite happy with the deal, cause I'll play the **** out of the Gibson, but I can't help thinking I've done something wrong. Have any of you done something like this, and how do you feel about it? Thanks to all, I've always felt at home with all of you fellow Ricnuts, and I'd appreciate your thoughts.

Whatever makes you happy, man.
I have non-Ric basses that get gigged regularly. I like to change things around. The J and the P are always ready and sometimes just more appropriate to the venue.

But my 1986 4003 remains #1.

That's a no brainer. Of course you did the right thing. Enjoy the T-bird and post a pic to make us all jealous!

Take three Hail Marys and call me in the morning.

Think of the purchase of the 12 string as a savings bond, which you cashed in to get the T-Bird.

I own AND play all kinds of basses and guitars - and get this - I don't feel guilty about it.

Crazy, I know.
Listen to that sustain!

No shame, I just bought "another" bass yesterday myself.

Play what suits you best and don't worry about what anyone thinks....especially opinions from any interenet forum. Image If I found something I enjoyed playing more than my Rics I'd sell 'em all off and move on. No biggie.

Thanks, I feel better now. I'd love to post pics, but I've had nothing but trouble resizing them. I'd be happy to email them to someone who could, if that's ok.

Cool! Give us the report on the "studio" Tbird... I've been looking at those for a long time, but havent heard a review.

Guitars are tools in your toolbox. I have alot of tools and their not all Craftsmen,, if you know what I mean. Image
