The Rick Resource Forum CD - Vol.1

Post by walker »

There's a lot of buzz going on in anticipation of the release of The Rick Resource Forum CD over in the 'Rampant Recording Techniques' thread. Just wanted to spread the word over here in 'Rickenbacker Artists' for those who may not have been hip to the proceedings.

Here's the track list, submitted by the project's primary organizer/producer: Anthony Carey. Featured are our own Forumites:

1. Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah - Tony Carey
2. A Picture Of Her - Jerry Juden
3. Coming Apart At The Seems - Dean Mentjes
4. Cloaked In Misery - Steve Carsello
5. Wuhan Incident - Jeffrey Scott
6. Fragile Pieces - Bill Henshell
7. Can't Let Go - Melissa & Howard
8. Tell Me - Alisha Tremaine
9. The Gift - Mark Walker
10. Whatever Road She'll Choose - Karl Tetan
11. Spirographic - Noel Christian Riddell
12. He Shows Up In May, She Left In June - JDog
13. Christopher - Brad Hague
14. Surfs Up Honey! - Dave Watson
15. Echo - Harry Bridge
16. Close Your Eyes - Gordon Armstrong
17. Lost Weekend (Broken Dreams) - Greg Howley
18. Peter Pan - Julio Leal
19. First Flight - Tom Shiben.

Mr. Carey was kind to include one of my songs - 'The Gift.'

Based on the only other tracks I've heard so far - submitted by Tom Shiben & Jeff Scott, this should prove to be one amazing CD! As a teaser, (and a little bit of gratuitous self-promotion,) here's the song I submitted that didn't make the cut:

Throwaway (RRF version)

It's an unreleased version recorded exclusively for this CD, and not likely to be formally released elsewhere. It features either my '79 4001 lefty bass, or my '68 4001. I'm embarrassed that I can't remember which I used for the recording, but it sounds more like my '79 than the '68. I also used my '76 4001FL in the middle break.

Mark, that was very much gratuitous self promotion. And a great tune I might add. So now for my shameless self promotion.... First Flight (which made it on the Forum CD - thanks!) and several other of the Quantum Kids tunes can be found here... just my '74 4001 except for two of the live bootlegs 4003s5....plucking away:

I just reread my last post and my apologies if it came off sounding nasty - wasn't intended to be. I left the word 'not' off the first sentence.

“… that was not very much gratuitous self promotion…”

I gotta stop drinking wine late at night and trying to be coherent.

Mark, you repeated a minor spelling error:
3. Coming Apart At The Seems - Dean Mentjes
"Seems" should be "Seams" ... unless you're trying to take on the master punsters here!?! Image

Tom - absolutely not! Offence not taken, not or no not.

Gary - I wondered about that seems, but then figured who am I to correct seems if Dean had intended a play on words in his title. If seams seems like seems, then I could see how it seams confusing. Ah hell. Now I've just confused myself.

Nice tune you linked, Mark - I just had time to give a listen. If that one was not on the CD, speaks well of what made it!

Dean had it spelled "Seams", but Tony transcribed it as "Seems". That error had me in stitches ... Image
