This is totally disgusting. Makes me cringe every time an image comes to mind.

Columnist Wilbon had it 100 percent correct today – he is “scum-of-the-earth material.”

If our non-USA friends don’t know what this is about, check Google or other news for Michael Vick.

Seems neither of the Vick brothers have much sense, but Marcus is looking like a near saint compared to Mike these days. I can only hope that the new commish has the spine to banish Vick from ever playing in the NFL again. Then I'd like to see the IRS make their case and freeze his assets in the process. Just a vile human being.......

You said it, John. I was reading some posts in a sports forum regarding this subject and there are people walking among us who actually believe that what a man does away from the playing field is his personal business; even if it involves the torture and killing of innocent animals and/or illegal activities. And here I thought that we were evolving as a species....

Worst of all are the many creative ways he used to kill his "non-performing" dogs--drowning, hanging, electrocution, etc. That takes it to a different level entirely. People like that generally wish they could kill a person someday.

Maybe worse yet: the value of Vick collectibles (posters, cards) has probably gone up....

I am more of a realist when it comes to animals/pets dying than most of my neighbors here in SoCal. I grew up on the farm, and life and death with the animals, was almost a daily occurence. I don't get too wrapped up in the "they are a part of the family" thing. That said, I will grieve when my Dakota passes on. I don't even care for the idea of spending thousands of dollars keeping them alive another year or two. If Dakota cannot be a normal dog, IMHO, I would rather put her to sleep than make her suffer through all that stuff. It just seems more humane.

I do not see anything positive about how these guys were treating those dogs. That is why I like the cartoon. I would love having him judged by some of my favorite "dogs" in the world!!!

I can't believe that a 'deal' is being done with the authorities! What 'deal'??? Just because he's a superstar? Or is he 'assisting the authorities' with information on others in the 'game'? They are now saying he'll probably only get a year of the five maximum. I say give him five and CANE HIM!!

Having said that, I'm with you, Charly.... I spent a lot of time on farms and stations in my youth and saw birth and death daily. I even had to slaughter and dress sheep. Not pleasant by any means but somebody had to do it and it was done humanely. But we didn't do it because they 'failed to perform'!

Well, the "deal" part comes with a plea. Here, if you admit guilt, they go way easier on you than if you waste money on a trial. It is not about punishment or revenge, but justice. The admission of guilt is very powerful here. Sadly, few admit it, and hope for something to go wrong during the trial that will allow them to walk.

I'm not Pollyanna about killing animals, but someone who gets off on different creative ways of doing it? That's a dangerous freak.

That guy makes me sick, and I come from a long line of hunters. Torture of innocent animals is wrong. For one thing, dogs are not wild animals, nor are they farmed animals. Some may be work animals, but they are bred, in general, to trust the human hand. To betray that, the way those who support dog fighting do, is inhuman and foul.

I meant that we saw life and death with all animals, pets too. And yes, I am in total agreement with those that "hate" abuse, especially of dogs. All they want out of life seemingly, is to please us.

Blood thirsty nut-case who is also probably pumped up on drugs and hormones. What do people expect, and why are people surprised at this?

After all, these jocks go out on playing fields intent on causing pain and destruction on each other - it happens here too (the illegal 'grapple' tackle for one). So nutcases like this, torturing animals shouldn't surprise many people.

But then, just look at the bloodthirsty spectators that go out intent on seeing someone break a neck or kill themselves at the race track, or indeed, crack each other over the head with bottles. Society is as society does, pretty much.

I've simply given sports watching a wide berth for quite sometime. Just too many shades of 'Rollerball' for my tastes, and I don't feel the need to support or encourage any of them, it can lead to events like these and worse.
