Strings and Things Part Deux

Post by jcreasy »

What amp and settings are folks using?

I'm using a Heartbreaker with moderate gain, lows all the way up, mids about 3/4 (moderately scooped), highs at about 9 (3/4) and moderate reverb. No effects.

Pickups in middle position and I roll the blend knob (yes, I use it) from all treble pickup to about 60/40 blend favoring the treble pickup.

I get good tone, but it sometimes strikes me as a little too Gretsch'y as if there is such a thing...

Also, I sometimes play my 12 string with fairly strong gain and it picks up a pretty neat tone to it... Not metal, but imagine a pretty strong JCM 800 type clip.

Interested in hearing others...

Thanks in advance,

JKC

Jim: This is an interesting topic, but without knowing what your goal is it may be hard for others to respond. What type of sound are you trying to achieve?
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Really just interested in hearing what everybody else is doing, set up wise... Bryan Adams Cuts Like a Knife video shows him playing a 360 Rick, and the recorded version sounds like it could be... That's an interesting tone...
