Stacked jazz pups vs stock

Post by charlyg »

Could someone tell me the difference in tone between the stock and stacked jazz pups? I would guess there are enough wires that you could use it both ways? I"m asking because I picked up an SX jazz copy for my Mel Schacher experiment.

I replaced the stock J bridge pickup in my '97 California Precision Special with a SD Classic Stack J and couldn't be happier. The J sound is there minus the buzz. Image

Cool! So I'll do a stacked jazz, and a EBO humbucker.

And by the way, for those that call it a mudbucker, bucking mud is a good thing!!

Right now I'm thinkg EBO humbucker to replace neck pup, and a tortoise shell pickguard. I'll upgrade the tuners and bridge also.

I am thinking of doing dual rio-grande humbuckers on my black 4-2-5 string jazz bass... the neck wired parallel and the bridge wired series ...

I don't know what those are. I'm trying to get that "Inside Looking Out" tone..
