Darren, that '72 Azure is gorgeous......and seems to have been quite popular!

Yes it was a popular bass all weekend. That vintage block of maple with that new high gain & toaster really has a great Ric sound!

Looking at it made me reconsider a quest for a JG model like the one I used to have, and think about getting an AG model instead to match my WB 6:

...why yes, I suppose I do have a double bound guitar fetish...

I'm still mad at you Joey and Diane for picking up the check at lunch today, after you worked so hard (along with Gary) to put the whole weekend together! I'll forgive you if you let me return the favor next time we see each other.
Graham, we're glad we are insuring a next time we see each other! Image

Yes, definitely Tammy and maybe Darren would have another message for the media and another "job" for the big stuffed bear on Main St in Huntington Beach. I can't describe it here, you had to be there.

Great pics!

What a weekend! Back at work and catching up on all the confluence posts I missed.

I would like to extend a very heartfelt THANK YOU to Gary, Joey, Diane, Charly, and Dane. A very relaxing and fun-filled weekend. All your efforts were highly appreciated by all.

John and Cindelee Hall - you continue to be the class act that comes so naturally to you. Your donation of the door prize guitar, the posters, catalogs, bumper stickers, picks, etc., was typically generous. We all truly appreciated it.

It was so great to meet up with all returnees from last year and catch up! Also to put faces on so many more that came this year. With the relaxed pace this year, it was better for having time to really visit with everyone, to share a part of our lives, and get to know them on a more personal level. Also there was more jamming going on too. I got to sit in on a couple - first time in 36 years. It showed!

Then there were the late evening hi-jinx and repeat trips to see Danny Pezzin - after the one trip over to our table to croon to Alison, I doubt he will ever do that again!! My face still hurts and I still don't think the artery in my brain has gone back to size!! Image

Some pics:

Dinner Thursday evening at the Holiday Inn waiting for more to come in. L-R is Richard Bengston, Joey and Diane, Darren and Robyn, me, Charly, Steve (Ben) and Tammy, Lisa and Dave, and Aitch. John B. got in just after this picture was taken by the waiter.

Saturday Lunch at Spoons - typical fare...

Saturday evening at Magiano's - Alison did a wonderful job organizing and getting us all to agree on the choices - in very short order!

I arrived back in Melbourne at 7:45am this morning and actually got some sleep during the flight...... will wonders never cease!!

Got through customs with no questions asked and delivered Ron his 360v64 case and Greg his 330/12 MID.

It's going to take me a bit of time to absorb all the stuff in the SoCal threads and post some pics so please bear with me!

I'd like to add my sincerest thanks to Gary, Joey and Dianne for putting the event together.... you guys did a fantastic job!! And of course my great mate Alison who basically took up from where she left off last year..... what a gal she is! Image

And a special thanks to Charly G for picking me up at LAX on Thursday, looking after me during the day and getting me down to Santa Ana..... I owe you one, mate!

It was great to meet all the folks from last year and the many who made it this year that I hadn't met. Putting faces to the names on the forum and spending quality time is the best part of these events...... great fun! As I recall some of the hilarious one-liners and comments my sides start aching all over again...... such a VG time!! Image

A special "g'day" to Steve (Ben) and Tammy! Image

+1 on the comments of Richard and John - work and reality....... blech!!

Here comes Johnny singing oldies, goldies
Be-Bop-A-Lula, Baby What I Say
Here comes Johnny singing I Gotta Woman
Down in the tunnels, trying to make it pay
He got the action, he got the motion
Oh Yeah the boy can play
Dedication devotion
Turning all the night time into the day

He do the song about the sweet lovin' woman
He do the song about the knife
He do the walk, he do the walk of life, yeah he do the walk of life

Here comes Johnny and he'll tell you the story
Hand me down my walkin' shoes
Here comes Johnny with the power and the glory
Backbeat the talkin' blues
He got the action, he got the motion
Oh Yeah the boy can play
Dedication devotion
Turning all the night time into the day

He do the song about the sweet lovin' woman
He do the song about the knife
He do the walk, he do the walk of life, yeah he do the walk of life

Here comes Johnny singing oldies, goldies
Be-Bop-A-Lula, Baby What I Say
Here comes Johnny singing I Gotta Woman
Down in the tunnels, trying to make it pay
He got the action, he got the motion
Oh Yeah the boy can play
Dedication devotion
Turning all the night time into the day

And after all the violence and double talk
There's just a song in all the trouble and the strife
You do the walk, you do the walk of life, yeah he do the walk of life
