Push/pull mod for 4001
Is it possible to have the push/pull pot done on my '74 4001? If so, what do I need and where in Australia (Melbourne) can I have it done?
Cheers!

Josh,
BEWARE that the cavity in your bass will not be deep enough!
I just installed the VTC in my 2000 V63, and it worked flawlessly. The pot is exactly ONE INCH deep, and so is the cavity in my bass. Somewhere in the 90's IIRC JH said the cavity dimensions changed.
Anyone else remember the year?

You need the Tone Switch/Pot and some hookup wire. Your 4001 should already have the .0047uF cap (check before ordering). You replace the treble tone pot with the pot/switch, wiring the pot one for one with the pot you take out except for the red wire from the pickup switch, which goes to the top of the tone switch. Then wire the .0047uF cap from the pickup switch to the tone pot, then use hookup wire from the same lug on the tone pot to the middle of the switch. All done. This is wired for cap out of the circuit when the push/pull switch is down. If you want the capped sound always and switched out when pulled up, then put the red wire from the pickup switch to the bottom lug of the tone switch, not the top.
pot/switch
cap if needed.
