First Song With NO Rhymes in the lyrics

Post by mikestop »

Quick trivia question. The winner wins!
What was the first song the boys recorded that has no rhymes in the lyrics at all?

Cayenne? It doesn't have any words at all.....don't know if that is eligible Image (Or Cry for a Shadow).

The tracks Appear on Anthology 1, but were obviously recorded much much earlier.

I'm also thinking Tomorow never knows, just because I don't wanna go through all the songs and check the lyrics.

Unless you say that Number Nine rhymes with Number Nine... :-)

"Till There Was You" was written by Meredith Willson for the 1957 play 'The Music Man' ... and it's got rhymes.

How about 'Love Me Do'... unless you get overly picky and insist that "do", "you", "true", and "new" all rhyme.

There are no rhymes in TTWY, unless you count the end words in different verses:

There were bells on a hill
But I never heard them ringing
No I never heard them at all
Till there was you

There were birds in the sky
But I never saw them winging
No I never saw them at all
Till there was you

Then there was music and wonderful roses
They tell me in sweet fragrant meadows of dawn and dew

There was love all around
But I never heard it singing
No I never heard it at all
Till there was you

Then there was music and wonderful roses
They tell me in sweet fragrant meadows of dawn and dew

There was love all around
But I never heard it singing
No I never heard it at all
Till there was you
“I say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did.”

"What was the first song the boys recorded that has no rhymes in the lyrics at all?"

Technically, Wilson was still intentionally rhyming...winging singing ringing...

Okay, Mike, what's the answer, or haven't we hit upon it yet?

When I read the thread title, "Tomorrow Never Knows" immediately came to mind...but I'm thinking there must have been some earlier.

Hmm...

> You know

> could find better things to do

> this time
> I will try to show that I'm

>> I thought that you would realize
> that if I ran away from you
> that you would want me too
>> but I've got a big surprise

> You

> I will try to show that I'm

Unusual rhyme placement, indeed, but rhymes none the less. :-)
