Saw the '87 this AM as well; gorgeous bass! It has that slimmy neck, too. Figures that it comes up now - I won't be in a position to buy anything for at least 2 weeks. Image

Too bad it has the thicker body horns or else it would be mine now! Notice the seven screw tailpiece? Did all the early ones have that?

Jeff,

Mine is an '88 and it has the seven screw tailpiece.

IF this bass has a neck anything like my '88, it is going to be a KILLER!

When did the v63s go to a thicker neck? I'm sure my 99 has one of those fatties...

My '98 V63 is virtally the same as my '73 4001, nice and thin, not as thin as my '67 4005WB but nice, nontheless.

My April '92 V has a nice tiny neck, and the my May '93 is larger. I think they got larger yet around '97-'98.
Jeff Thomas probably knows better when it happened.

"not as thin as my '67 4005WB but nice"

It doesn't get much better than your 4005! That baby is sweet!
Is that typical of a '60's Rick?
