Luciano Pavarotti dies at 71

Post by ozover50 »

Sadly, one of my all time music heros has left the stage for the last time. I am a big fan of opera in the 'verissimo' style (or 'verismo' if you prefer) and for me few tenors could cut it like 'Big Luke'. A bit of a scoundrel he may have been but when a voice reduces you to tears almost every time you tend to overlook those things...........

I was fortunate enough to see him a few years back when The Three Tenors toured and I treasure the memory.

Time to dust off the turntable and revisit all those Puccini and Mascagni boxed sets I have at home.

R.I.P. big fella! Image

Tonight at 11pm we reported him in really bad health, but not dead. But that's ok, we killed Lucille Ball before she died, years ago!

RIP big fella, indeed.

"Nessun Dorma" runs through my memory. The handkerchief is out...

Whether one is a fan of opera or not (I am, somewhat) the guy had some voice. Rich, warm, whew.
