Interesting guitar building thread

Post by teb »

A friend and customer who is also a wooden boat nut has started a thread you folks might enjoy with some excellent step-by-step photos.

Be advised that the rest of that particular area of the WoodenBoat Forum can get pretty nasty and unregulated at times, though there is occasionally some good stuff posted. The forum is also often running quite slowly lately as their system seems to be at it's limits, but these pics are worth waiting for.

I built one once with checkerboard binding around the top...

Dale, the "bilge" section frequently gets bogged down with political and religious debates that go on forever and usually wind up with the same people insulting each other over and over again, but the other sections (the ones which actually relate to boats) are the best on the web for wooden boat design and construction. Bruce Taylor (the guy building the guitar) is a very talented man and an interesting mixture of hands-on wood skills and computer design skills. It should be a good thread if he takes us all the way through the process. There are quite a few guitar players on the forum.

Thanks Todd I'll keep the Bilge thingy in mind if I need some insulting. I never understood mixing religion and politics, they always bring out the worst in people. I browsed thru Taylors guitar work...he seems to be very worthy of his trade.
