The pilot's effortless calm is what makes it. What supreme talent!

I would have blacked out at that point, the initial climb to 4000' in about 1/2 second!!!

Back in 1972, when I was a sinuous 140 pounder, a steely-eyed defender of all that was right and good about this country, I flew three combat missions in Vietnam in the OV-10 Bronco in the forward air controller (FAC) duty. When over safe ground, the pilot treated me to several loops with six-G pullouts. Didn't black out completely, but "grayed out" with tunnel vision. Didn't hurl, either. I loved aerobatics; loops, rolls, barrel rolls, Cuban eights, etc. If I tried it now, it would probably kill me.

All I know is the pilots love to make the photogs loose their lunch - our two guys that went up did. I can only imagine the power of that takeoff or the other hi-G pulls. Looks like the guy passed out at the end, or at least really had enough by then.

RIP U.S. Navy Lt. Cdr. Kevin J. "Kojack" Davis!!
