Very happy with my 620 sound

Post by tome »

Hi everyone, this is my first post on here after reading the threads on this great forum for a couple of years. I've had my 620 for about three years now and I must admit that it took me a couple of years to get used to the narrow neck. I started playing on Hofner electric guitars a long time ago when I was 19yo and the necks on them are very similar to the 620, but I have lately been playing a Telecaster or a Les Paul.

I suppose the Telecaster sound came close to the sound I have always had in my head but I have arthritis starting in my hands after years of manual work. So I decided to persevere with the 620 and now it is everything I want in a guitar. I play it through a 1973 Fender Pro Reverb strung with Ernie Ball Slinky .009 gauge.

Here is a link to a soundclip I made with my 620 and I'm sure that the sound of both HiGains can outspank any Tele with a ton more added character.

Sounds great! (it's a little quiet on the MP3 side)

Anyone who disparages that tone has cloth ears, my friend. Crystalline twang.
