Back Beat was done very well with all the period instruments, clothes, and acting done superbly well.

"The Commitments" is probably my favorite (outside The Beatles films).

The story line was good, but they put guitars in Buseys hands that weren't built until after Buddy had died, like the Jaguar and the Tele with a Rosewood fingerboard, and the Black and Blonde Amps. Buddy died in 1959, so who did the research for the instruments in the movie. Other than that I loved the movie.... La Bamba with Lou Diamond Phillips was done really good right down to the DanElectro that Richey played while growing up in East L.A. I guess some of us pay attention to the fine details...

Back Beat was good except for the fact that they had John singing "Long Tall Sally". There are some great rock movies and some that are really sloppy. I've noticed that the ones that are more recent have much more accurate instruments than those of the past like The Buddy Holly Story.

Matthew..the odd thing is, in the beginning John sang all those 50's Chuck Berry and Little Richard songs..he had to turn some of them over to George and Paul.

I love "The Last Waltz"---is it a rock and roll movie? Part concert, part documentary, all pulled off brilliantly.

I haven't enjoyed too many rock biography movies...they all suffer from scripts that need to cover too much ground too fast, although "Walk the Line" was indeed a good one.

I was thinking about an interview with Paul...I'll have to find it again, where he said that was his only gripe with the film. He had indicated that that was his song, and always had been.
