It's love, I can tell!
Nice catch, Chris. I wish I could find me a Shadow too.

Thanks,Sergio. I wish I could find an actual production number on these things....no one seems to know an actual figure. It seems that John Hall isn't even sure of the actual production numbers! I've heard 50, 200.....someone must know!!?? I've heard the Guitar Center "theory" and actually sent them an e-mail regarding the subject. I suppose this subject has already been covered, but I thought I'd do my part as a new "parent" and learn more of the history of these fine instruments.....

By the way....where did the "shadow" name come from? Is this the "official" Rickenbacker name for it (like Blackstar)?

Well, I don't know the exact Shadow production totals either, but I'm sure 'Shadow' is the official Rickenbacker name for this particular bass guitar model.

These were made for a Guitar Center anniversary, the 25th I think. Anyway, one bass was made for each store, so if someone who has more time than I do to do the detective work wants to figure it out, be my guest.

There probably were a few extras however, as I have one as my regular bass in the studio.

Great lead, Mr. Hall!

Isn't it nice to know that the man himself uses the Shadow as a regular studio bass?

So, who here has an idea how many Guitar Center stores there were across the US around 1986-1989?
We're getting close to the answer!

If you check out the GC website, it says there were 8 in 1982, in '85 they opened 2 more. It's kind of vague for the rest of the 80's, though. They opened around 70 more stores in the 90's. So...if these Shadows were built between '86-'90....we must conclude the number must be somewhere way less than triple figures??!! We should try to get some serial #'s from the guys here that own them....Mine is ZK 3210,Nov.'86...

The shadow would be really cool in a 5 string version.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS! :-)
