Rickenbacker Feature in BGM Out Now

Heh..... If it was on TV, then it must be true... Maddie Avenue... I would be happy if he broke out of the mold of the newer tailpieces and back into the mold of the early-70s in-house aluminum tailpieces. That was a great mold to be broken into, no tail lift and a solid lightweight format. But that's not important now...
Maybe JH should have Paul manufacture any newish "iffy" stuff (nobody can beat Paul at making prototypish thingies, no one, anywhere, he is magical), and if it fails then Paul has made some money but RIC has not had its rep besmirched. And it if is successful, both JH and PW are heroes and both make piles of money?
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, and sit in with the band whenever you can, to keep your chops up!

I for one look forward to what new ideas might come around. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the reissue ideas, and I'd really like a 4001C64 someday. I'd buy a V68 or V57 in a heartbeat. But I really would like to see what a step into the future would be like, as it seems to me that such a step would truly be in the spirit of the rest of the basses RIC has built in the past. Look at how long the 4001/3 series has been running with so few major changes since, what, 1974, and it STILL remains one of the top basses in the world, still competing with the finest handmade custom instruments and still a benchmark after all these years. I don't want to sound sycophantic here, either. However, I really do trust what RIC will do next, and I hope that they do so when it is truly ready. They've never let us down yet; I doubt whatever they pull out of the hat next will be no less of a disappointment than all the other classics they've produced.

With the 4003, the 4001C series, and the 4004, it seems to me the only thing missing is a 5 string. And I don't play those anymore.... Hmmm...... Could be interesting. I just hope it's shaped like a 4001!

maybe a 5 string bass like this ...

wide enough for fingerstyle but slim enough for the left hand ... and slim enough for the pickups to cover all 5 strings ...
