Cate Blanchett as Bob Dylan!?

Post by firstbassman »

In a new film biography coming out in November. Dylan is portrayed by Blanchett.

I think this is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard.

I remember the first time I saw Dylan's photo, back in '63 or so. I was struck by how feminine he looked then. Very delicate features for the most part.

But Kate Blanchett? Nah! Try Fran Leibowitz! She's a smoking activist, too.

I tried to find a pic of Fran on the Web. Seems she's done a great job of purging her pics off of Google; many of her bios are gone, as well. But her quotes remain, and she may be more visionary than Bob himself, LOL.

The only person I can see playing Bob Dylan would be Adam Sandler. looks just like him.

Feminine looking? Oh, I don't know. He looks like a lot of guys I went to school with.

You're right, though, there are not a lot of photos of Leibowitz on the Web. Interesting. But, as a former journalist, I always "get my man" (so to speak).

The resemblance is uncanny.

Adam Sandler? Ha! How 'bout a song titled "Positively Fart Street"? Or maybe "Maggie's Fart".

Looks like Adam Sandler with a Phil Spector barber.

I saw something about Blanchett doing Dylan on some TV entertainment show. I thought they said that multiple actors were playing him in the same movie, each doing a different part of his life. So maybe there is room for Franny after all.

I guess Fran playing Dylan is sort of like Janis Joplin being voted "Ugliest Man on Campus" when she was in high school.

Sad but probably true.

Franny could play the "Social Security" Dylan.

She's hilariously quotable:

"My favorite animal? Steak."

There are six different actors/actresses portraying Dylan in the different periods of his life/career. She's only one of them. Plus if you look it up here, it gives some more info about it all: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0368794/

I've seen the preview and I'll see the movie. I figure that it's worth a shot and may be good.

Cate Blanchett as Dylan? It sounds dumb...but she is one hell of an actor, so I will suspend my disbelief until I see what she can do. She has excellent instincts for choosing roles (so far) and she is a true chameleon. She just might surprise.

There's also a trailer at the link I posted that has some brief footage of her in the role.
