As GC is the importer/distributer the warranty is setup as an exchange deal for now or else the amp goes back to Italy for service. I would assume that GC is working getting on a US service tech established.

$600 is a bargain for what you get in the LM II. Image

Chris, a lot of people that are unimpressed seem to change their mind when they pair the Little Mark II up with a cab like an Epifani or Bergantino, I've never tried the Markbass cabs so I can't comment on those. Also some people don't notice that the two filters are actually at 50% when all the knobs are at 12:00 and this will have a big effect on tone, those two knobs should be all the way CCW to start.

The warranty has been confusing to a lot of people even GC, it's supposed to be included in the price, some GC's were charging for it by mistake at the beginning. If the GC near you is out of stock on a LM II you can find one that has one and do mail order for a 60 day trial, that's what I did last year and I liked it so much I never sent it back.

i haven't had the opportunity to hook another cabinet up to my combo yet,but am confident it would sound huge. i had a 3 hour practice recently with 2 gtrs and the world's loudest drummer, and was impressed by the combos's ability to cut throo-using my 4000 which doesn't have the bassiest tone. i like the sound of the cab/speaker myself, stacking it on a single 12 or 15 cab would most likely be incredible sounding.

I recently purchased a LM II from GC. So far so good. I will gig with it this weekend at an outdoor festival so will be interested how it performs. Regarding the warranty- I looked thru my MB manual and the MB website- there is no mention of a warranty for parts or service from MB on either. Maybe I'm missing something- but that's my impression so if someone has found the MB warranty let me know. I believe that is why GC is offering the performance guarantee for a simple exchange at a GC. Otherwise, it's mailing to Italy with a CC # for service.

Let us know how it plays outside Chris! I am trying to work a trade in deal for my Ampeg B200R combo, to get the MB from GC. Maybe in a week or so I'll have it!

Can't someone contact Markbass . . .

http://www.markbass.it/contacts.php?lingua=en

. . . and ask them directly about the warranty?

The official word from Peter Murray PR/Marketing rep for Markbass on the Talkbass forum (referring to the LMII head):

"Guitar Center pays the Warranty Group for each and every PG (Performance Guarantee) warranty. That means that GC is actually selling the amp for $520. The Performance Guarantee is your warranty, and it's more comprehensive than most factory warranties! For all other products at GC other than Markbass, you have to pay extra for that coverage.

Although some may prefer to take defective products directly to a repair station themselves, this PG is probably the most robust warranty Markbass products have anywhere in the world! You simply drop off the amp at your local UPS store (doesn't even need to be boxed), and they take it from there. All costs covered. And UPS is fast.

Just to clarify. If anyone has further questions, let me know.

P"

Uhhh, did I miss something or is the warranty a purchased, paid-by-the-buyer warranty?!

$80 for a 2-year hand-you-a-new-amp warranty isn't that bad though. I'm just offended by being required to by the warranty on a product. What a gig for MarkBass.

I think what the marketing rep is saying is that it's basically built into the price. Manufacturer's warranty's are built into the price too, no?

What caught my eye, and started the debate is that when I looked at my receipt, it was broken down into the price for the amp, and the price for the warranty.

I'm OK with the PR reps explanation.
