Review of Diablo & their forum member bass player.

Post by leftyguitars »

Here is an independent review of one of our members' (Stephen Lodge - Stevebasshead) gig at Stormin' the Castle two weeks ago. Scroll halfway down the page to 'Diablo'.

Unfortunately the FOH crew didn't know how a Rickenbacker bass is supposed to sound. (Don't blame me - I was on monitor mix!).

Nice stuff. Funny review of UFO. My current guitarist used to play with Pete Way in LA and has told me some interesting stories about the guy.

Good to see a lot of 'seasoned' musicians in these bands.
No matter where you go - there you are.

Sean, the review of UFO is a polite one to say the least. Three of the band were totally wrecked when I picked them up from the hotel, they couldn't even speak, you can imagine what they were like after an hour and a half in hospitality (Pete Way literally had to be carried onto the stage). He played at a quarter speed for the set (that is when he was playing). Half way through the set he sat on the drum riser with his head in his hands for a while before trying to stand up, he then promptly passed out for around ten minutes. The set was very Rock'n'Roll, but musically it was... err... how can I put it? err... interesting!

Sounds typical. I hate seeing stuff like that.

... the sound engineers managed quite well ...

Peter, I guess the reviewer thought you did a good job.

Richard, I was on side of stage monitor mix, so they can't blame me. Image

How is Pete Way still alive, that's the question...

Diablo...You just knew it wasn't going be a string quartet...

You've never heard of The Diablo Strings Andy?
I recorded a UFO tune during the early 80's in Stomeln, Germany, can't remember the name of it though, was slow, bluesy and a great song. Michael Shenker (sp?) was a hero to our guitarist at the time.
