I thought it might be the rods too, but I know its the string. I verified this by playing fretting the interval (B on the E string with my 3rd finger D on the G string with my pinky) and could stop the vibration with my first finger by muting the string. I also had the misses touch the string at various places between the nut and the fretted note to verify that it was the string. (WOW that sounds dirty for some reason!) Like I said before the B note doesn't even have to be plucked, if you just fret that shape, the D on the G string will cause the remainder of the string up to the fretted B note to vibrate to the point it buzzes. Further test will have to be tried to figure out if the rattle is at the nut or the string against the frets. I believe the later may be true after reading Dale's post. But there is no one in all of Alabama Id trust with a file on my Ric!
