Vintage pot values vs. Current pot values

Thought that I'd throw this out and see what the consensus was.

I know that RIC is currently using 330K pots in standard production. Did they ever use 250K pots and if so, why the change and when did it take place?

I'm thinking of swapping out the stock pots in my C64 for CTS 250Ks. I prefer a lower value pot with single coils and would like to know if anyone else has done this as well.

I don't know what was used in the 50s but form the late 60s thru 1989 Ric used 250k ohm volume pots and 500k ohm tone pots ... from 1990 until 2006 Ric used all 250k ohm pots ... currently they use 250k ohm volume pots and 330k ohm tone pots. That is accurate for the 4001 and 4003 models. I am not sure about the 4001cs, 4001v63, or c64 basses. They probably used what was being put in the other basses at the time. I don't know the rating on the 2000 series basses. The 4004 basses use all 500k ohm pots.

to give a 4003 more of a vintage bite you can put in 500k ohm tone pots. To mellow out a 4001 and give a warmer tone use 250k ohm pots. To give a 4004 more of a 4001 bite put in 1000k ohm tone pots.

I just did the VVT mod on my black Laredo five string and used 500k volume pots and a 1000k tone pot, nice and bright with the hb1's. I have 330k pots on the Cii five string(VVT also), it's warm and dark sounding.

This bass here ... http://www.3dentourage.com/425/fender-bird2.htm ... was a little too dark sounding ... it was wired vvt with 500k ohm pots ... a normal way to wire humbuckers ... I put in a 1000k ohm tone pot and now it has better treble bite ...
