Moog Taurus Pedals

I know you cant get the originals anymore,, unless your lucky and have deep pockets,,but has anyone come along and made a set of bass pedals that sounds as good??

Seems like something should be out there..??

Yep, there's a guy on Ebay who is selling a programmable bass pedal set with a computer with LCD screen built-in. It's got some amazing functions, and because of the computer, you can also have a web browser in your bass pedals for those moments between sets...they sell for $750.00, too.

Unfortunately, a search today doesn't turn them up. I ran the "moog taurus" keyword search to find them originally.

This gets discussed every now and again over at the Moog Music Forum - this thread is one of the most recent.

Short answer: no. Apparently the original Taurus was wired differently than anything else, so you can't even get that sound from an original Minimoog. And of course the Taurus II (kind of like a Moog Rogue on a stand) is generally regarded as being inferior.

My answer is to control the new Moog Little Phatty synth with Roland PK-5 Midi footpedals. It's been really fun using this setup - challenging too! Here's a couple of tunes with obvious titles:

And a video - the sound quality of the pedals isn't so good (they get drowned out by the drums and bass here and there) but you can see the difficulty I have stomping on them now and again...

Oops, Paul beat me to it! Though my answer is different - I've seen the eBay ad, in fact I think it's mentioned in the thread I linked to though I could be wrong. I guess the question is how concerned you are getting the sound of the original Taurus - the Moog Forum folks can get kind of purist...

I think I'd take a modern version over an original, even if that were MIDI pedals and an Arturia soft synth. It would stay in tune for one.

I played this for years, however nowadays I play out the Taurus II's.

I used the Midi step to control a Roland JX 80. It was able to hold multiple notes (octaves,) at one time. It sounded pretty full, but it is no substitute for the Taurus.
