My votes are in Roy via email. For the record
3, 1, 2, 4.
3, 1, 2, 4.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

I've just noticed that I'm in with Peter on this one:
1. 3
2. 1
3. 2
4. 4
A close race for 1-2-3. Some irritating
repetitions put 2 behind the two others, quite
even, sweet singing performances.
4 The newer version, I guess. Could be Smokie or
something. I somehow liked the jinglejangle
speed and arrangement, but the weakest singing in this field. Lacks the authentity and charm of the other versions.

Searchers amongst my teenage favourite music. Still fond of them, but earnestly a little puzzled they are considered THIS big! But I'm very excited about this forum, and will love to read it regularly, and also contribute!
Well, this one was really hard, they are all so very different and there wasn't a bad one in the bunch, for me anyway, on a different day I may have rated them differently. I know who two of them are and will go with this:
4.
3.
2.
1.
My last place is actually just as good as my first place to me so I this is what I came up with as I listened. I picked my #1 because the voice, performance and production were all excellent although I will of course always love the original.

I've noticed too that this was on The Beatles' playlist for the infamous Decca audition session.
-Sung by George! I didn't listen back on Roy's selections, but it would be embarassing if this version is in there without being recogniced! I wonder why they let George handle so much lead singing on these sessions. In my opinion, his voice at this stage was much weaker than John's and Paul's. But boy, he was just 17 or 18!
