600 series bass sighting!

Post by jps »

There are two photos on page 145 in the Rittor Rickenbacker book that shows a bass under construction at the factory with a 600 series body shape! Anyone know anything about this bass?

I can only imagine what it would look like. With 660 offerings.

There was at least one in the museum, Jeff (The one at the RIC factory, that is).

Not that one. The one in the book has only a single, centered slot instead of the two seen here at the end of the neck, no route yet for a pickup, and it looks like there is more rounding to the edges all around the body. The upper horn is too fat on the one pictured above and the horn on the one in the book looks longer, maybe because it is slimmer. The grain is different, also.

I think it would look better with CB.

The more I think about it I do remember seeing this bass last year, as I remember wondering about that pickup!

Yeah, it is more like Jeff's rendering but all maple with a normal 4000 series headstock.

These pics are from the '80s or early '90s probably. Nontheless, it would make a killer bass. Image
