Finally!! A SHADOW!!!

Chris,
My pleasure!
I've never tried the Pyramids on my Rick basses but do have a short scale set on my Epiphone Viola Bass (a Hofner 500/1 clone but looks and plays sweetly) and like their vintage sound. They feel a bit stiffer than the T-I flats on both my Sophie and Annie ('98 4003 FG).
Please do let us know what your impressions are after you get the Pyramids on your Shadow.

Just a clarification: the DR Black Beauties are roundwound strings with a black coating for longer life. Similar in principle to Elixir coated strings. They are not designed to reduce overtones.
This is definitely not the same thing as a black nylon tapewound string. LaBella and Rotosound tapewounds are flatwounds with a flat outer wrap of nylon.

lol actually the rotos are very light steel roundwounds with a thick black nylon wrap.
That suprised me!

About the DR blacks...
To some extent, I agree with James. For the bass I put them on, that is what I was kind of looking for. I wanted the general tonal characteristics of a roundwound string, but with a darker, less bright tone for my Stanley Clarke Alembic which has enough bright high end to impair small animals. Perfect string for that bass. After 15 gigs or so the coating is starting to wear off though. If you'd like to send your slightly used set my way it would be great!
