Prius owners?

"With that gas mileage you're getting, however, you won't be able to hijack anything too far without stopping to fill up. And all of us little "babies" will smile at you and wave when we quietly roll on by at 80 MPH"
I have never seen a Prius doing more than 70 MPH, are they capable of it? (har!)
And actually it's very good on gas considering it weighs 4400 lbs, has a 350 Cubic inch V8 (5.7L for you youngsters) with 260+ HP. I'll pay the extra gas for comfort and luxury. This car flies actually, it's very fast, they call them Grandma's hotrods.
I play upright, I really need something like this to fit it and my SVT's, it's a great gig car which is mainly what I use it for, that and for when the family comes from Peru. It's even got that little vista window in the roof with shades you can shut to block the sun if it gets too hot. I could have bought a minivan but I hate them and I think this is better on gas than most minivans, it handles much better and is much faster, but to tell you the truth it's just a very cool car. I even get respect from the hotrod guys.
Carry on shiny happy Prius owners.

Jason -- I hope yours turns out to be as enjoyable to drive as mine. You are going to love the money you save on fuel and insurance costs.
Bob, I sometimes cruise down the highway at 80+ in my Prius -- however, you get optimal gas mileage at about 62 to 66 MPH. So it's not that they can't go 80, it's just that their drivers are very conscientious about MPG and normally keep it under 70.
Now when I want to burn more gas I can take this out of the garage. You want to talk about respect from hotrod guys.

The world is made of stories not atoms and every guitar has a story.
Thanks Dr. Bob. I was beginning to regret even posting this, but your post makes me feel a little better. I'm all about priuschat dot com. It's eerily similar to this place, this thread excepted!
I'm driving the new toy down to Stuart, FL today to hang with the Cabibi's for a few days. I bought it in Venice, FL yesterday and had an enjoyable trip back home, up the interstate at about 80 mph. Even at those speeds the MPG kicks the s*** out of any non-hybrid.

Hey Dane, -- just like a few guitars, I have a couple of cars for retirement investments. Other than my miles in the Prius, I probably put on a combined total of 300 miles per year on the other two. I also have an electric mower and don't use a leaf blower -- does that count on the asset side of my carbon trading?
Once again Jason, congratulations. Post a picture.

Yeah, Dr_Bob, you're cool...especially with the 'no leaf blower'. That counts on the asset side of your personality as well...the philosophy behind leaf blowers seems to be to make your problem into someone else's with a minimum of effort.
I have a 'push' mower, but then I'm kinda nuts...it's the closest thing to a gym membership I can afford...

I didn't get where I am today by being on time...

Thanks, now I have to clean the club soda off my monitor!
I'll never be able to blow the grass clippings (from my 4-cycle self-propelled LawnBoy) off the drive, sidewalk, and deck again with a straight face! Thank you Dane!
