MFriend and M123 Prices

Post by firstbassman »

Are apparently not the same even though they are the same company now (both owned by Guitar Center).
So, when shopping, make sure to check out both.

Here is one example, an Ibanez bass at Musician's Friend:

Is 15% less money at Music123:

Are you looking at the Ibanez basses Mark? Have you tried them before? What do you think? See my other question in this section about them.

Mark, you linked the same page twice - did you mean this one?

It is a blem - the new ones are the same price.

I, too have seen variations in price; both on new vs. new and blem vs. blem. Not often, but occasionally. Sometimes MF is lower, more often M123 is lower... often by pennies: $299.99 vs. $299.95, or some such thing.

I recently picked up a Fender Jazzmaster amp (and cab). Both places had amp "blems" at a discount over "new" ... but I saved almost an extra $100 with MF over M123's price. And I'm still looking for the dent, scratch, or whatever...

Agh, sorry, you're right JohnA. It was a Blem. Serves me right for trying to eat lunch and surf at the same time.

Sorry Greg, I don't see yout thread. I see Kent's about "inexpensive non-rick basses" but I don't see yours.

I have three Ibanez instruments - GAX 32" bass, Artcore AS-73(?) semi-hollow guitar and an acous/elec six-string. Love 'em all.
As I have said many, many times, IMHO Ibanez makes the best equipment in their price range.
Since I'm on M123's (and many others) mailing list, they sent me a link to ther koa bass and I like wood finishes so I followed the link to check it out.
The 32" GAX is my main bass but (as I've posted) I'd like to find one more medium scale bass preferably in a J type style.

I like the ones that the guy makes in 30" and 32" that look like Strats (can't remember the name) but they're about $1400. More than I'd like to spend.

Landing (www.landingbass.com) was what I was thinking of.
