Vox Hand Wired AC-15

Opinions? Made in China?

Price is close to another amp I want, an 18 watt Dr. Z, tried that, loved it.

Another vote for the Z! I loved the ones I've played through and think it'd be a much better buy overall than that handwired AC-15.

I have a handwired Vox that I really like a lot. Sounds great and the quality has been great too.

I agree Matthew, I just don't like sending my money to China either, but there's not much we can do about that thanks to Nixon and Kissenger

Hmmm...it is Chinese. I guess I'd have to be careful when touching painted parts. Though I could probably nail some "Lead" Zepplin with it!

I thing the good Dr. Z might be hearing from me!

Thanks all for your input.

If you're buying "new," all Z dealers sell at the same price. Shipping costs will vary and might be negotiable. ;-)

Also, if you haven't already frequented it, the "Z Talk" forum has a lot of useful info.

I try to buy American as much as I can, unless there is no other option.

Vox amps were originally made in Britain. JMI makes the original models with the original specifications:

I think they cost more than the Vox and the Dr. Z though.

Had I not bought the Victoria Victoriette last summer, I'd probably have a Maz 18 right now.

seriouslly, I did consider buying a vox about a year ago,AC30. the made in china thing turned me off...,I was hoping the hand wired were made somewhere else. I ended up buying a used and very cheap marshall 30w combo. The JMI looks very cool, wondering about pricing in US dollars. Marshall was very high [as everyone knows] before the devalueation of the dollar.... :?:
