It's Finally Finished!

Post by johneek »

Like Christmas as a kid, the waiting is the hardest part, but when the day finally comes, it seems as if the time flew by. At any rate, I wanted to share the arrival of my most recent prescription for RAS. The problem of course, is that the very things prescribed to cure the disease, seem to accelerate the spread of the very thing I am (pretending) to try and get rid of. Enough whining....on with the show.

Gorgeous! :D
There is no reason to ever be bored.

...why yes, I suppose I do have a double bound guitar fetish...

As you can see, its a bit of a chameleon...like the DCMs, the color changes dramatically depending on the light.

I can barely remember when it was Mapleglo....maybe I should do some "Before & After" shots....

This is probably the closest to what it looks like in person (on my monitor anyway...)

John, its actually Kevin Kuney's old guitar. I know he had it for sale on the Forum some time ago, but I bought it from him at MARF. Seeing Rich Snyder's guitar was the inspiration for this. There are some considerable differences between this one and Rich's. If anyone's interested, I can tell you everything that was done in the process.

Looks great John! It's hard to believe that this is the same guitar I listed here:

That is amazing, John! It wasn't a bad MG at all, but that new finish and bound headstock is truly exquisite :) Glad you kept the Bigsby too!
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, and sit in with the band whenever you can, to keep your chops up!

It shore is purdy. And you're right, guitars that look like that don't help the RAS - They inflame it.

Thanks everyone. I just about burned up my camera today taking pictures, so if anyone's interested, I can post more, but I certainly don't want to be like the annoying father who won't stop showing you pictures of his children.

So far it hasn't stayed in its case very long. I keep wanting to get it out and play it and look at it. As I mentioned as a caption to one of the pics, it is a bit of a chameleon, I hope some of you will get to see it soon, and I plan on bringing it to MARF next year. Like many RICs, its much prettier in person than in photos. Depending on the lighting it ranges between a kind of Raspberry Burst, and a sort of Smokey Merlot Glo. It's hard to describe, but once you see it, you'll know what I mean. I'll let those of you who view it in person decide what to call it.

Here are a couple of other pictures that may give you a better indication.
