Hey Dave! Got the Yamaha I see. I think you'll dig it. They're a nice flavor to add to the arsenal. Doesn't this place look great now?

Welcome back, David!

What is your impression of the Hipshot vs. the seven screw RIC bridge?

I forgot the bridge was originally a three screw. Can you take a photo of the bottom side the next time it is off the bass, or is it off now? This would be nice to go along with my three bridge photo, which you probably have seen.

Is there a space under the hipshot like on the stock bridge where some of us put washers? I think the washers helped my bass, but then I have the five screw tailpiece.

You don't need to do that with the Hipshot, it is quite solid.

Hi David! Welcome back!

I really like the Hipshot on my V63! It added sustain and clarity that this bass was missing.

That bridge is the newer stronger one, I would think there should be no lift from that design.

David, what looks like lift in that first photo may not be so. I have a small amount of lift like that on my '98 4001V63; someone mentioned here that the top surface of the body actually slopes down a bit towards the edge of the body. I checked mine and that info is correct. Try putting a straight edge on your body next to the bridge and parallel to the strings to check if this is the case with your bass.

Nice bass David...Is that Hipshot the brass one or the aluminum one?

Welcome back, David! And thanks for the comments on the aluminum version of the Hipshot. Useful.
