I saw a few bands tonight
I did a little bar hopping tonight ... saw 4 bands ... 2 of them had bass players with 4003 Rics ...
My band Rare Blend played at the Cleveland Museum of Art last night. The event was a big party held throughout the museum with a DJ and another band besides us. We were in the Nia Coffeehouse and besides a set of our own music we backed up poetry reading. The poets came up to the mic and would tell us what style of music that wanted us to play under their reading and we had to come up with something appropriate; that really kept us on our toes!

"The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long
plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die
like dogs. There's also a negative side."
I don't know who said it ... but it really explains the music business accurately!!!
This is why I don't go on tour and don't sign a record contract ... I don't want to take the paycut or the downgrade in lifestyle ... So I am content that there are a few people out there who know that I am a good player.

got a pics of my 4005, 4003 and 660/12 in there somewhere.
Record companies are an endangered species. With the internet, one can market their band worldwide. You may not get rich, but you can make you mark on the world, however small!
Many sites will sell your CD for you (CD Baby, for example) and even market your songs to other artists or movies, commercials, etc. It's expanding everyday, and I believe the future. You can be a virtual band, existing only in cyberspace if you wish, which is great for writer/composers making demos at home. I surf mp3's all over the world.

John,
If youre interested in getting out this weekend, my band Model Citizen is playing at the Library Pub in Novi on Saturday, November 15, and my '73 MapleGlo will be in attendance as well! You can get a map and more info at:

Just thought I would pass it along, pleasantly surprised that you were in the metro area! Also, one of Jeff Rath's old 5 string conversion basses (non-Ric) will be onstage with me also.
