The memberlist

Post by leftybass »

I have always wondered how far back the esteemed membership list went, I have found it very interesting to look at; it's hard to believe 'guest' joined up in 1969, LOL.. :D What a long-time member we have in our midst.

I am on page two, but John Williams is member #2, (YOU GO DUDE)------other 'old timers' like Don Adamek, Larry Wassgren, John Hall--- all joined up close to eachother. I have even seen a username of a guy that has passed, kinda sad, and only made one post. But anyway, I just think the member list is another cool feature.

I imagine it would have been tough at that moment (August/September 2000) to envision where the road has taken us up to this point.....a lot of water has flowed under the bridge!

Guest was registered at -1 which is in epoch time, which means - seconds since Jan 1st 1970 :)

And yes - the memberlist is an awesome feature, I like it too.

I'm making my way through it too. Can't imagine Micahel being the Rickenbacker fab as well as being computer literate and not posting here. He did know the Rickenbacker site, so I'm doing some searching to see what I can find. Besides, it's also a way for me to get to know who's whom.

I was kinda surprised to see how many members there are who got registered but never posted.

Many of them did that in order to be able to read the previous forum.

Maybe so, but some of them registered in 2001, long before the forum became "members-only".

So does that mean that we will not be a members only forum now?

Tony: One of the major problems of having the public read the last forum without registering is that they could see the email addresses of the members. Just one of the reasons for the current move was to tighten up the security which we have done.

There is a cost to having a forum locked down completely. To begin, there is the suspicion that we have something to hide which is far from the case. Further, a major objective of the RickResource Forum from the beginning has been to spread the word of Rickenbacker instruments far and wide. This cannot be accomplished by locking things down.

Should persons want to take advantage of asking questions, seeing different theme views and other features that will be added, registration is required. At some point we will discuss the merits of having portions of it closed. For now, it would be my intent to keep it open until the dust settles.

I did not realize, until it was closed to the public, just how many people enjoyed reading it. I found out in a hurry as my mailbox was filled to the brim.

Hey lefty,
I've managed to crack a mention on page 1.
IIRC the forum was free to post to in the begining, I'm sure I remember when most of us moved here from a.g.r. about the same time.
Then registration became required. Is this the date that would be noted on the members list?

It would be cool to lock down the for sale and wanted topics only, if you want my 2 cents.

Since I matched people's old posts to their account as well (from the early years when registration wasn't mandatory) - I changed the registration date to the earliest post date, unless the post date was after the registration date.

My opinion too, and a private 'members only' posting area where we could swap 'sensitive' information would be good too.

Hey Gerry, we're pretty close to each other date-wise, you got about two weeks on me...cool !!! :D

In the old Forum format, my reg. date was 4-2002, and that was when Peter did the reg. required to post...and Gil has explained it now as well---it goes by the first post now.
