Horseshoe/toaster pickups?

Post by Geoff »

I hear people saying they're switching 4003 pickups with the vintage ones. What are the differences?

I am wandering the same thing. Anyone? Does Rickenbacker sell these horseshoe-toasters
online. If anyone knows anything it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank a lot,

Marcus.

i have put the vintage toaster and horseshoe pickups into my mapleglo 1977 rick 4001,and now it sounds as if it has come alive. for some reason, before i put in these pickups, it was sort of dead-sounding---not a bad sound, just not a real happening sound. with the replacement vintage pickups,it sound very lively now, more traditionally "rickenbackerish". so at least for my 4001,it was an improvement. as to whether R.I.C. sells them online,i think that they do,but check their website.
