360-12 v64 / c63 Explain the Difference

Post by tamborineman »

I have a 360-12 standard model, maybe thats not the tech term. its about five yrs old.
I would like to get a second 360-12 vintage style [ full lower horn ]. ala George Harrison.
I know they're hard to find.
Whats the diff with C vs. V models. I would like to know more about them before I buy a used one. Fill me in please. :?

The C series is built to the exact specifications of Harrison's '63 model 360. The V is close, but not exact.

The head stock is shaped slightly different. The fret markers on the C63 are a pale white while the V64 has a pearloid look. The C63 fretboard is a 7" crown radius. The V64 is a 10" radius.

For what you'd pay these days for a used V64 in near mint condition, you're better off getting a new C63 with the five year warranty, IMO.

thanks for the info guys, 7" vs 10" radius is interesting i would guess my present 360-12 is 10". 7" would be close to a telecaster. i guess that would be alright but different. didn't Ric claim in thier fold out chart that comes with new guitars that the v64 was made to George specs ? any problems capo-ing a 7" radius ? :?:

The internal bracing is x-shaped and the dots on the side of the neck are red. The paint scheme is supposed to be as close to Harrison's as possible.

I actually prefer the v64. I like the look better.

But if you're a Beatles fan, the c63 is the way to go.

The V64 also came in a six string model, which is really cool! Try getting ahold of one of those, if you can!
