Will a 3001 fit in a 3000 case?

Post by 86kubicki »

I notice that there's a 3000 case on Ebay, and I'm wondering if anyone knows if it would fit a 3001? Did the 3000/3001 use the same body? Would Rickenbacker have had two separate cases for such similar models or did they have one case that would fit both?

IIRC the 3000 is short scale and the 3001 is long scale; if so, then it will not fit.

I'm wondering if Rickenbacker used the same case for both the 3000 and 3001 despite the difference in scale between the two basses.

The 3000 case is 3" shorter than a 3001 case. Besides, this is a rare form fitting case, and since a 3001 body is longer than a 3000 body, it wouldn't fit for that reason either.
