Southern California Fires...y'all be careful

It seems that they are popping up everywhere at the moment, they're even saying there is one in Irvine as of this morning. Some of the places on fire at the moment I had visited just a month ago, and many still showed evidence of the fires of 2003-2004....Romona, Witch Creek---all out in San Diego County. Everybody be careful out there, I hope none of you are in any hardship over these wildfires.

They are letting people through Topanga Canyon if you are coming into the city, but all the news stations say it is closed.... We flew to work through the canyon!!!!!!!!1

I hope all are safe and not in harm's way. The Weather Channel reported arson was involved in some of the fires. Pathetically insane.... Be safe, my SoCal friends!

A coulpe of folks I know out there have sent pictures and video... Some have been evacuated. Anyone out there please be careful! Word is the fires can change direction and intensity in a moments notice. Thoughts and prayers are with you all! Take Care-

I've been watching the live-feed from KNSD over the internet, it's pretty bad around San Diego--the evacuations are pretty huge.....my best friend lives about 4 miles south of CA 56, just off the 5--and they are evacuating north of 56, east of I-5 to I-15. Also east of him in Poway.....

My sister and her family live in La Jolla. We haven't heard from them. Anyone know anything about what's going on in that region?

Our family went to San Diego (and all the way up to Santa Monica) this past August for a vacation. My son and I went to the Wildlife Park. Hope that all will be well. A beautiful part of the planet, Southern California.

The nearest I can figure, La Jolla seems to be ok for now.

Well, the Wild Animal park in San Diego is in danger. Park was closed today and the animals are being moved right now.

I was hoping to find a thread on this topic here. Like John Simmons, I've been watching the news reports and checking maps to see where the bushfires are raging, hoping that places I visited only a couple of months ago are not in danger. During my last US trip John Hall spoke candidly of the fire which struck Laguna Beach some years back and how the fire was extinguished as it reached his front lawn.

The threat of bushfire is something Aussies share with Californians, so we know how you must feel right now.

I hope all of my good friends in California are safe. Hang in there guys!
