I wish they made a solid 350 with a slightly wider and shallower radius neck and a toaster/humbucker combination with coil splitters on the humbuckers and the option to control each pickup's volume independently and individually ... ah well ... back to the beach!

At the 2002 NAMM show, I fell in love with Rickenbacker's acoustics. However, finding a lefty was next to impossible. That is until just over a year ago when Paul posted this:

Good news!!!

John Hall has encouraged me to produce a very small number of acoustics to Rickenbacker specifications, but built and finished in my shop. ....

I fired off an email and the wheels were set motion. I took delivery of the Ric of my dreams in April, which was well documented in this thread:

Thanks, Richard. You have been a tireless booster of my work and for that you have my sincere gratitude.

I am nearly finished with tooling up to build series acoustics, instead of "onesies". I won't ever exactly be spitting them out like sunflower seeds, but things should step up shortly. Being a one-man operation, doing refinishes, filling acoustic orders, and redoing tooling is a pretty full schedule, and soon it will lighten up due to a real intense effort these last few months.

Interesting tidbit: I recently took an order for a short-scale 700C (Jumbo!) 12 string, with a 6" fretboard radius, which I've begun calling "vintage radius". Should be one unique instrument. It'll be featured as it is being built and finished.

Jazzbo neck is nearly done; it's a cross between a 390 neck and the contemporary neck, with a couple of surprises. Photos in the next few days. Folks may wonder how I keep my energy and enthusiasm up with my time literally filled with luthiery work. I work several projects at once; while one is drying/curing/hardening/waiting for parts, I'm working on another. And for every eight hours I spend working on customers' projects, I give myself one hour of reward to work on one of my own projects...that's how the Jazzbo came to be from one sub-assembly given to me by John Hall last November.

Plans for Japan are on hold, due to circumstances beyond my control, and a price increase on acoustics goes into effect November 1, to better capture my actual costs in building these. But they are still a bargain IMO, considering they are priced way below premium Gibsons and Taylors, which are made in much larger quantities.

And, of course, I'm thankful, too, to John Hall, for allowing me the honor of keeping the Rickenbacker name alive in acoustic instruments.

Seriously speaking, I think that's quite commendable. I often long for the days when folks dressed nicely rather than competing to see who could look the most ragamuffin.

Just a guess, Peter, but I think it could be one of the colours Eric was experimenting with in '06 during the time of the 75th celebrations.
